BONAVENTURA (attributed to). Sermones de tempore et de sanctis . [Ulm:] Johann Zainer, 1481. Chancery 2° (278 x 200mm). Collation: [1-36 8 ; 37-51 8 52-53 10 ] (1/1 blank, 1/2r table, 2/8v blank, 3/1 Sermones de tempore , 37/1r Sermones de sanctis , 53/10r colophon, 53/10v blank). 428 leaves. 41 lines and headline. Type; 4:96 . G, 5:136G. 3- to 6-line initials in red, that opening first part with oak-leaf in-fill, paragraph marks and capital strokes in red. (Browned and spotted, several small stains and neat marginal tears.) Contemporary German blindstamped calf over thick wooden boards, large cnetral lozenge on sides with rosette at centre emanating wavy fillets, one (of two) fore-edge clasps, vellum quire guards (rather rubbed with slight loss of leather at extremities, split at upper joint). Provenance : occasional contemporary annotations -- Bolzano, Franciscan convent (16-17th-century inscription, later stamps, remains of letter mounted on front pastedown) -- Marcellus Schlimovich (bookplate) -- Argentina, Sociedad Hebraica, Schlimovich collection (stamps).
