The Maclurian Lyceum was an educational institution in Philadelphia, operating between 1826 and 1830, named in honor of the pioneer geologist and educational reformer, William Maclure. The officers of the society included Thomas Say and Charles Lucien Bonaparte. From the latter, this issue includes a Catalogue of the Birds of the United States which was originally written for Bonaparte's continuation of Wilson's Ornithology but not published there. Also in this issue is an interesting account of several new species of salamanders, written by Jacob Green. Meisel II, pp.449-450; Sabin 43557.
