Bolivar played an important role in Latin America´s successful struggle for independence from the Spanish Empire, and is today considered one of the most influential politicians in the history of the Americas. Rare D.S., `Simon Bolivar´, a bold and large example of his signature, one page, folio, Magdalena, 20th May 1826, in Spanish. The partially printed document bearing the heading ''Simon Bolivar Libertador - Presidente de la Republica de Colombia, Libertador de la de Peru, y encargado del supremo mando de ella'' (''Simon Bolivar Liberator - President of the Republic of Colombia, Liberator of the Peru Republic, and in charge of the Supreme Command''), being a grant-diploma given to Juan Basilio Cortegana, Captain of the first Battalion of the Regiment of Ayacucho as a testimony of the gratitude of Peru for his participation in the victory of Ayacucho and cooperation in the freedom of Peru. With a countersignature at the base of the document and two registration annotations to the verso. Overall age wear, very small holes and warm small holes and two very small areas of paper loss to the bottom edge. One stain to the upper part of the document only affecting partially the identity of Captain Cortegana. F
