Forster (two, n.d. and 1966, the first on his puzzlement at Krishna's 'blueness ... Is it just a divine colour, or is he a black people's god?', and a typescript speech), Lytton Strachey (2, on Chinese literature), Alix Strachey, Duncan Grant (1941, discussing a jacket design for Waley's translation of Monkey ), Roger Fry (3, 'I wanted you with your knowledge of Chinese life in past ages to tell us really how the people in power regarded art', and one to Ka Cox, 1917, about a book of poems), Helen Anrep (12), Bertrand Russell (2, on Waley's translations, 'The human race appears to have made little progress since that period, and the advice to wise men, contained in it, has unfortunately not been adopted'), Gerald Brenan (27, 1925-1966, including a number of poems), Molly McCarthy (32), Francis Birrell (32, [1912]-1918 (most incompletely dated), a lively, gossipy series), 'Bunny' Garnett (4), John Lehmann (2) and Rosamond Lehmann, altogether approx 122 letters.
