Dutch text. 4 titles printed in red and black, 4 engraved titles, 1 engraved dedication, 2 (of 3) engraved portraits (one folding), 1 engraved coat-of-arms, 1 double-page genealogical table, 136 engraved maps, plans, bird's-eye views, or plates (many double-page, some folding), engraved head- and tailpieces and initials. (Lacking Koeman's plate (7) the portrait of Marie Jeanne Baptiste de Savoye, as well as (13) 'Prospectus Plateae Veteris Ante Castrum' from vol. 1, but with two untitled double-page plates not called for by Koeman in vol. 2; Koeman's (57) 'Turris Turbiae' is replaced in the present copy with the double-page plate 'Trophae Augusti'; 5 plates with light vertical creases; quire B loose in vol. 2; occasional very light browning.) Contemporary Dutch mottled calf, covers with two panels formed by an wide outer border composed of an outer double fillet with lace roll tools sandwiching a central rosette roll tool with inner cornerpieces of acorns and stylized foliage, the inner panel formed by a simple double fillet with similar inner and outer cornerpieces enclosing a gilt lozenge formed of the same acorn and foliage tooling, spine with raised bands forming 9 compartments, morocco label in second, lettered in third, matching acorn and foliage centrepieces to the others, bundpapier pastedowns with crude gilt decoration to inner border, edges with matching gilt decoration (worn, especially at heads and tails of spines, vol. 2 tail and lower cover defective, one spine label to vol. 1 lacking, edges rubbed). Provenance : Gérard Muijderman, Zwolle (early 19th-century inscription to verso of title of vol. 1, and thence by direct descent to the present consignor). THIRD DUTCH EDITION WITH EXCELLENT DARK IMPRESSIONS OF THE PLATES which include maps, plans, bird's-eye-views, topographical views, plates of monuments and architectural highlights from every major town and city in the region, including Turin, Nice, Asti, Cuneo, Novara, Vercelli, Alessandria and Savona.
