The Heads of Illustrious Persons of Great Britain, engraven by Mr. Houbraken, and Mr Vertue , London: for John and Paul Knapton, 1747 -[1752], 2 volumes in one, 2 (505 x 340mm.), list of subscribers, engraved title vignette by Grignion after Gravelot, 108 engraved portrait ovals by Vertue and Houbraken, each within an emblematic border (offsetting, sprinkled worming affecting lower margins only), finely-bound in contemporary red morocco gilt by Orrock and Son, covers with rule and tooled border, spine in six compartments with double raised bands, lettered in two compartments, the others gilt, g.e. (lightly rubbed).
