Full brown armorial calf for Jacques-Auguste de Thou, with the arms of his second wife, Gasparde de La Chastre impaled with his own, spine in six compartments with his monogram, titling-piece (later) in the second compartment, all edges red. 8 x 5 1/4 inches (20 x 13.5 cm); 21 ff (lacking a1, likely blank), 733, [1] pp., [1] ff. colophon. Binding presumably a remboîtage, as De Thou died in 1617, neatly recased with new joints, label and head and tail. Internally occasional minor toning, overall a clean copy, with the bookplate of Antonio Emiliani. An interesting works that discusses the civil wars of England, Turkey, Catalonia, Portugal, Palermo, Poland, France etc. C
