Beschreibung:

Bifolium from a Romanesque noted Missal of grand proportions, in Latin, on parchment [Low Countries, mid-twelfth century] Bifolium, with single column, 20 lines in two sizes of a tall and notably handsome bookhand, the larger on a monumental scale, without biting curves and with a strong st-ligature, capitals crossed with arching penstrokes, smaller script accompanied by music in form of neumes arranged around a red Clef line, red rubrics, one-line initials in pale blue or red, 2-line initials touched in wavy penstrokes in contrasting colour, three larger initials variegated in red and pale blue with geometric patterns and twirls of foliage, some scuffs, small stains, folds and later scribbles, but overall fair and presentable condition with wide and clean margins, each leaf approximately 345 by 245 mm.
