VERSIONUMQUE ANTIQUARUM, SAMARITANAE GRAECAE LXXII INTERP., CHALDAICAE, SYRIACAE, ARABICAE, AETHIOPICAE, PERSICAE, VULG. LAT. QUICQUID COMPARARI POTERAT. … EDIDIT BRIANUS WALTONUS. LONDON: THOMAS ROYCROFT, [1553–] 1557 [UNIFORMLY BOUND WITH:] EDMUND CASTELL, LEXICON HEPTAGLOTTON, HEBRAICUM, CHALDAICUM, SYRIACUM, SAMARITANUM, AETHIOPICUM, ARABICUM, CONJUNCTIM; ET PERSICUM, SEPARATIM. Walton with general title-page printed in red and black, additional engraved historiated architechtonic title-page, 2 full-sheet engraved maps, and 4 engraved plates (some folding or double-page) by Wenceslas Hollar, a few woodcut illustrations in text, woodcut initials; one plate just shaved. Castell with title-page printed in red and black, woodcut initials; lacking frontispiece portrait and title-page to vol. 2. Both works with occasional light browning and some minor marginal worming, tears, and repairs, but withal quite clean. Nineteenth-century sheep, red and green morocco spine labels, plain endpapers, blue-marbled edges (Castell) and red-sprinkled edges (Walton); worn, some loss to spines and corners, covers over-covered with brown cloth at a later date.
