Greek type by Claude Garamond in three sizes, Estienne's woodcut basilisk device on titles (Schreiber B1) and his olive tree device on the last leaf (Schreiber 10), Eusebian canons set within woodcut frames decorated with cherubs and architectural ornaments, foliated and grotesque Greek initials in two sizes, matching head-pieces. (Owner's name removed from title affecting one letter and ruling, light marginal browning.) 18th-century English red morocco gilt, edges gilt. (Light chipping and splitting to spine ends and joints, some light rubbing.) Provenance : George Becher Blomfield (armorial bookplate and inscription dated 1827); H.C. Hoskier inscribed to J.L. Scully, May 1910; John Finlay Harvard classicist; acquired from Goodspeed's Book Shop, 1990.
