The second edition, being THE FIRST QUARTO EDITION OF THE KING JAMES BIBLE , which follows closely the text of the first edition published in 1611, including mistakes at Ruth III-15 ('hee'), and others. This Authorised Version, the work of over 40 translators divided into five committees based at Oxford, Cambridge and London, undoubtedly has had a greater influence on written and spoken English than any other book. No new English translation was produced until the Revised Version of 1881. Herbert 313.
