They had six children, three survived to adulthood, but none married so there were no direct descendants. Margaret Cook, younger sister of James Cook married James Fleck and moved to Redcar. On Cook's death he left her £10 in his will. Margaret's eldest daughter, Grace Fleck, later Carter (1770-1855), married John William Carter (1766-1848), fisherman, of Redcar. "... Margaret [Fleck]... married a fisherman named James Fleck and moved to Redcar. In 1776, when Cook was already rich and famous, Fleck was indicted for smuggling and appealed for help to his celebrated brother-in-law.
