Title printed in red and black withing engraved border incorporating portrait of Queen Elizabeth enthroned (skillfully restored with some portions in facsimile), New Testament title with similar border (tear repaired), three section titles with border of 24 woodblocks, woodcut and typographic initials. (Final table leaf in facsimile, some leaves slightly soiled, some tears, mostly marginal repaired, some light marginal dampstains.) 19th-century calf, covers with roll-tool border of floral ornaments, spine gilt in compartments with green lettering-piece, rubbed, upper joint cracked. Provenance : inscription on verso of title 'George Compton wil get this beautiful [?] after my death', contemporary gloss in Book of Psalms, George Norris (bookplate), pencil inscription on end-paper 'Purchased of Beatniffe Sept. 2nd 1783'.
