Contemporary Dutch vellum gilt, decorated with a large central floral and urn design, painted in green, red and blue, flat spine, gilt and gauffered edges, brass clasps, front pastedown with a heart shaped flap, covering an elaborate gilt floral design and the name "Lisebet Jansz Vetschoen, 1774" stamped on pink leather. Provenance : Lisebet Jansz Vetschoen (binding); purchased from Emil Offenbacher, 31 October 1960. A beautiful example of a 18th-century Peasant binding, with a heart-flap on the inside of the upper cover.
