Silver gelatin photograph, 1934, titled McCausland Press, and depicting Abbott's partner at her press. The image has rarely surfaced on the market and is signed in the margin; image size 9.5 x 7.5 in. In addition to the photograph, the lot is accompanied by an intimate typed letter from Elizabeth (Betty) McCauland to friends Irene and Helge Hogland, thanking them for a recent visit and mentioning the press. One presumes the photograph may have been sent along with the letter. McCausland was a roommate and strong supporter of Abbott throughout her career and published her work. Lot also includes a book of poetry self-published by McCausland. Condition: Photograph in crisp condition, frame has not been worked on and matting is foxes, backing is toned.
