Belgium - Brabant] - SANDERUS, Antonius - Chorographia sacra Brabantiae, sive celebrium aliquot in ea provincia ecclesiarum et coenobiorum descriptio (...). Brussels, P. Vleugart, 1658-1660, 23 parts in 1 vol., folio, later old vellum (some soiling, heavy browning & foxing throughout, some ff. loose or loosening, marg. tear on t.-p.), gilt titled spine on 6 raised bands. Good copy.
23 parts in 1st edition of this profusely illustrated topographical work. Engr. ills : 23 title-vign., 12 ills in text , 1 (of 7) full-page and 24 double-page or folding pl. by L. Vorsterman showing abbeys, monasteries, convents, Marian devotional places, including Affligem, Brussels, Antwerp, Louvain, Averbode, Grimbergen, Villers, etc.; numerous tailpcs. Engr. portrait of Sanderus loosely inserted. The stock of a 2nd vol. was completely destroyed during the bombardment of Brussels in 1695, only 5 or 6 copies survived. Title in red & black. Armorial bookpl. on endpaper Ed. Houitte de la Chesnais . Ref. B.B. V 49-64 S-215. STCN (i.a. 1 at BL).
