BEETHOVEN, Ludwig van (1770-1827). Document signed (in gothic and roman script, 'Ludwig van Beethoven'), Vienna, 25 February 1827, a receipt for his half-yearly allowance of 240 gulden of Conventions Münze payable from Prince Rudolf Kinsky's treasury in Prague, countersigned with a confirmation of his residency by the priest C. Santner, numbered at head '82' and stamped ('30 Kreutzer W'), one page, folio , BEETHOVEN'S SEAL ('L.V.B.') IN RED WAX, papered seal. From the last months of Beethoven's life: the composer's receipt for his last half-yearly allowance from 1 September 1826 to 1 March 1827. Beethoven was already seriously ill by 25 February 1827 (his abdomen was drained of fluid for the fourth time on the 27th); he died just a month later, on 26 March. R
