Beschreibung:

The New Wizard of Oz.
Indianapolis: Bobbs-Merrill Co., [1925]. 208 pp. 8vo (230 x 175 mm). Illustrated by W. W. Denslow and movie stills. Publisher’s stamped dark green cloth, blank endpapers. Condition : covers intermittently spotted, corners slightly rubbed; booksellers stamp on lower front pastedown and previous owner's inscription partially erased on front free endpaper. Provenance : Fred M. Meyer Collection. rare chadwick photoplay edition with eight stills from the 1925 silent motion picture . One of the tie-ins with the first feature length movie of The Wizard of Oz was this special movie edition of the famous children’s book. Just as the script cowritten by Baum’s oldest son Frank Joslyn Baum bore little resemblance to the children’s story, the photographs do not really illustrate the text. The movie was an independant production starring Jewish slapstick comedian Larry Seman as the Scarecrow and Oliver Hardy (before he met Stan Laurel) as the Tin Woodman.
