Integral blank docketed. Provenance : PBA Galleries, 1 Oct 1998, lot 11. Official Admiralty letter conveying instructions on the slave trade. The Act to prohibit British slave trade was passed in 1833 and took effect in 1834. This letter transmits orders to the South American Station at Rio de Janeiro. Barrow was Secretary of the Admiralty and in this position he both encouraged and chronicled voyages of Arctic exploration.
