This unusual funeral ceremony for CHARLES II (1661-1700), King of Spain, contains texts done in calligrams, labyrinths and other graphically striking forms. These come beside more standard descriptions of the proceedings and the gigantic catafalque erected. In one, the text of the Latin distich "Mors rapuit Carolum" (Death has snatched Charles), the text is organized in a diamond-shaped pattern.
