BARBOU CLASSICS]. CICERO, Marcus Tullius (106-43 B.C.). Opera , recensuit J. N. Lallemand, Paris: Saillant, Desaint, Barbou, 1768. 14 volumes, 12° (153 x 86mm). Engraved frontispiece portrait of author by Cathelin after Rubens, engraved head and tailpieces (some light browning and spotting). 19th-century mottled calf, 3 gilt fillets on boards, gilt spines, turn-ins and edges, 2 red leather lettering pieces on spines, marbled endpapers (rubbed at extremities, a little chipping on spine). Provenance : Alfred and Blanche de Curzon (armorial booklabel). Brunet II, 12: "Un bon texte, des notes rédigées avec une habile concision, et de plus une impression soignée, ont assuré le succès de cette édition, due au modeste Lallemand". LIVIUS, Titus (59 B.C.-17 A.D.). Historiarum ab urbe condita libri , cura J. N. Lallemand, Paris: Barbou, 1775. 7 volumes, 12° (157 x 86mm). Engraved frontispiece portrait of the author by Cathelin after Philips, engraved head and tailpieces (reverse impression of same plate visible underneath the portrait, occasional light spotting and staining). Uniformly bound as the above (very lightly rubbed at extremities). Provenance : Alfred and Blanche Curzon (armorial booklabel). Brunet III, 1108. With Tacitus's Opera (Paris, Barbou, 1793, 3 vols, Brunet V, 636), Plautus's Comediae (Paris, Barbou, 1759, 3 vols, Brunet IV, 709: 'une des plus jolies édit[ions] de la collection de Barbou'), uniformly bound, and with a further selection of classics in near-uniform bindings comprising Ovid's Opera (Paris, Barbou, 1762, 3 vols., Brunet IV, 273), Virgil's Opera (Paris, Barbou, 1767, 2 vols., Brunet V, 1293); Catullus, Tibullus and Propertius's Opera (Paris, Barbou, 1754), and 11 other works in 14 volumes, in near-uniform bindings.
