Il a ensuite étudié en Iran et est devenu Cheikh al-Islam (chef religieux des musulmans iraniens) sous le souverain safavide Shah Abbas I (r.1587-1629) à Ispahan. He later studied in Iran and became Shaykh al-Islam (religious chief of the Iranian muslims) under the Safavid ruler Shah 'Abbas I (r.1587-1629) in Isfahan.
