Photograph of ship carrying Australia touring team hand signed by squad of 16. Australia won 2-1 with two games drawn. Offered with a facsimile Autographed Body Line Photograph, a unique photograph of the R.M.S. Orontes, the boat that carried the MCC touring team to Australia in 1932, to take part in what was to become the most controversial cricket tour of all time. The photograph is autographed by the team including managers with the exception of Tate who was to join the tour later due to injury. Captain Jardine directing his bowlers to bowl short deliveries at the batsmen's body to a packed leg side field, this resulted in a later change of law, restricting the number of players behind square on the leg side. The ploy certainly worked for Jardine's MCC going on to win the series 4-1. Eighteen autographs in all to the photograph. Framed and glazed. The autographs were obtained by the grandfather of the vendor who was a steward on the boat. (2)
