Gianni Poggi (Piacenza 1921 - Piacenza 1989) He first studied in Bologna with the soprano Valeria Manna and later in Milan with baritone Emilio Ghirardini, making his debut in Nabucco at Teatro Massimo of Palermo in 1947. In the same season he performed well in the role of Rodolfo in place of a colleague, achieving great success . Still partly to unforeseen circumstances (it was waiting for the presence of Jussi Björling, who then did not materialize), the following year, just 26 years, successfully debuted at La Scala in Un ballo in maschera. It was the beginning of close cooperation with the Milan theater, which saw Poggi present on the bill, with brief interruptions, until 1960 [1] in a variety of roles, including Enzo, Fernando, Edgardo, Duke of Mantua, Rodolfo, Cavaradossi Faust (Gounod opera is that of Mephistopheles), in addition to participation in Oberto, Conte di San Bonifacio, in the first modern revival of the opera of Verdi in 1951. He started his career at the Arena di Verona in 1949 in the role of Lohengrin by Renata Tebaldi (Italian edition) and performed in all the major Italian theaters in South America (Buenos Aires, Rio, Sao Paulo), in Barcelona, Excellent condition Material Photography; 17,7x11,3 cm
