FORSTER, inscribed by the author on front free endpaper: "To Morgan with love from Wysten, July 1965" (publication date was 13 July), with 21 corrections/revisions by Auden in ink on 15 pages (ranging from punctuation and spelling corrections, through several one-word revision, to a shifting of an entire line). Bloomfield and Mendelson A49a. Forster had reviewed three of Auden's books, beginning with The Ascent of F6 in 1936 (the piece was later collected in Forster's Two Cheers for Democracy , 1951). In 1939 Auden dedicated his book Journey to a War to Forster.
