Attributed to Mrs. Moses B. Russell (Clarissa Peters), (Massachusetts, 1809-1854) Portrait Miniature of Rhoda Dame Hall. Unsigned, the sitter identified in ink inscriptions on the reverse. Watercolor on ivory, c. 1840, 3 x 2 1/4 in., in a molded giltwood frame. Condition: Paint loss and pigment migration u.l., u.r. and l.l. corners, few minute paint losses on lips and dress Provenance: By family descent. Note: Inscriptions on the reverse indicate "Rhoda Dame Hall wife of Daniel Hall who was father of William Henry Hall who was the father of Fanny Hall Atwood and Augustus Hamblen Hall and Gt. grandfather of William Augustus Hall and Great great grandfather of Stewart Augustus Hall. She is Stewarts Gt.Gt. grandmother... Rhoda Dame Hall was born at Salem, New Hampshire about 1806. (Death ctf. shows birthplace as Wakefield, N.H.)"
