Included in the lot are: One 11x15” album containing 64 pages of mounted photographs, clippings and mostly letters of thanks and congratulations for his work with the athletic members of the club, including businessmen and amateur athletes covering the period of 1905 to the 1950’s; One 12x15” album containing 56 pages of photographs and articles documenting athletics at the Olympic Club, including track, football, swimming, ice hockey, basketball etc.; One 12x14” album containing 36 pages of photographs and congratulatory letters to Von Poelnitz on his 50th anniversary and 70th birthday at the Olympic Club and includes photos and reports on the massive “stag” dinner celebration given him in 1952. The most important part of the archive is the large 11x15” 134 page photograph album that virtually documents all athletics at the Club from c.1915 through what appears the 1930s covering all sports. Includes team photographs, individual action shots, water sports, track and field, basketball, football swimming, boxing etc. containing hundreds of individual black & white photographs, ranging from 8x10” down to snapshot sizes. Outside of what the club may own, this arguably could be the most complete documentation of Olympic Club athletics in the pre-1950 period. Also included with the lot is a 15” plated trophy on a metal base of a soccer player with the Olympic Club winged “O” on his jersey, which reads San Francisco Football League, Season 1931-1932, won by Billy Poelnitz.
