Title: Archive of photo stills of Grace Greenwood Author: Place: [Hollywood] Publisher: Date: Mid-20th century Description: Archive of approximately 140 black & white studio stills from movie productions starring Charlotte Greenwood, several inscribed by her. Some with press-release text affixed to rear. Most 8x10", housed in two three-ring binders. Charlotte Greenwood (1890–1977) was an American actress and dancer. Greenwood started in vaudeville and starred on Broadway, and in many film and radio productions. Standing nearly six feet tall, she was well-known for her long legs and high kicks. She was, in her words, the "...only woman in the world who could kick a giraffe in the eye." Her best remembered role today is as Aunt Eller in Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma. Seven of the photographs are inscribed by Greenwood, several others are signed in the negative. Lot Amendments Condition: Housed on photo album pages with adhesive on the mounts, removable with careful handling. Very good. Item number: 278173
