Beschreibung:

Sinai Solomon, son of Zalman Solomon, grandson of Yoel Moshe Solomon, was born around the year 1870 in Palestine. At the end of the 19th century he learned pharmaceutics in Turkey and in Switzerland, and later moved to Germany, where he practiced his trade. Upon his return to Palestine, he established one of the first modern Jewish pharmacies next to the Tower of David. Due to financial and family difficulties, he and his pharmacy relocated many times, in Egypt, Turkey, Jaffa and Jerusalem. His last pharmacy was named Agrippas, and was located next to the Machne Yehuda Market in Jerusalem. His archive contains postcards, letters - both personal ones dealing with public matters (The Pharmacist's Association, Nachalat Yisrael Rama, and more), accounts, receipts, passports from the Ottoman period, various paperwork from German consulate, photographs, government papers, notebooks and notepads, matters concerning pharmacy and import of medeicines, medical prescriptions and more. A good part of the documents are from the Ottoman period, and the rest are from the British Mandate period. Few date to after establishment of State. Many documents bear stamps and post-stamps. Altogether hundreds of documents of various sizes and conditions.
