First edition of Antony Gormley’s lavishly illustrated publication on the history of sculpture, explored through a series of thematic essays. Inscriptions on two pages (42 words in total; the first initialled ‘A.M.D.G’) dated 10 March 2022 – ‘15th day of war in Ukraine’ – make pointed reference to the vital importance of freedom of expression. The first chapter of the book, 'Body Space and Body Time: Living in Sculpture', was given as a lecture at the State Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg, 'when Russia was open to the world'.
Octavo. Original grey cloth, lettered in black and red.
