With 4 portraits (including 2 portraits in the Supplementary volume of 1830) and 368 (of 369) plates, plans and maps; also with engraved vignettes. Lacking plate 29 of Chapter I of volume 2; plates 22, 25, and 26 of Chapter I of volume 2 are detached and chipped at edges of blank margins; the hand colored folding map in volume 3 shows moderate offsetting, is split or splitting along old folds, a section of the map, 5 1/8 x 2 1/2 inches; 132 x 57 mm, at the top center has broken off, but is present. Some darkening at edges of title page and contents of volume 1, contents also with minor marginal dust smudging, but internally generally clean; some dust smudging at edges of title page and contents of volume 2, but internally generally clean; title page of volume 3 heavily foxed, light to moderate foxing through the first half of the volume, the rest generally clean; scattered light foxing in volume 4; additionally scattered light to occasionally moderate foxing and offsetting to some plates. With the Subscriber's list in volume I and the Supplementary volume of 1830. Untrimmed. Ex-library: perforated stamp on title pages and all plates (portraits, plans, maps, views, etc.) many of the stamps within the plate marks and often touching the body of the plates, ink stamps on a preliminary leaf in each volume, labels on pastedowns, call numbers at foot of the defective spines.
