Beschreibung:

Title: Antheil and the Treatise on Harmony Author: Pound, Ezra Place: Paris Publisher: Three Mountains Press Date: 1924 Description: [vi], 107 pp. 7¼4x½, original printed reddish-brown wrappers. 1 of 360 copies. First Edition, trade issue. There were also 40 numbered copies, some of which were later signed by Pound and/or Antheil. George Antheil (1900-1959) was an American composer who enjoyed a brief period of acclaim in Paris on the basis of his radical new music, especially the Ballet Mécanique, which stirred a stage-managed riot at its premiere in 1925. Pound evidently understood little about Antheil or music but used the composer to assert his own theories. Gallup A25a. Lot Amendments Condition: Wrappers characteristically soiled, stained, and wrinkled, foot of spine chipped, front cover and first few leaves a bit loose; some marginal darkening and chipping within, etc.; generally a fair to good copy. Scarce. Item number: 185970
