Includes belt with two-piece brass buckle with Virginia state seal; unmarked officer's spurs with cast eagle heads; pre-Civil War buff leather sword knot and brass 14" spring-load candlestick. Descended in the family of Captain William W. Beckwith, 80th NY. Beckwith served in the Virginia theatre on the staff of Provost General Marsena Patrick. It seems likely that these were "souvenirs" collected by him during this period of service, and while manufactured prior to the Civil War could have been used in this conflict. Condition: Leather of belt with minor splits, but complete and intact; spurs with traces of original gilt, sword knot intact and flexible.
