(Annie, suffragette, 1879-1953) Autograph Letter signed to Ralph Blumenfeld, editor-in-chief of The Daily Express, Letchworth, Hertfordshire, 11th October 1929, asking him if "as an old friend you could do the old group a favour, by paying a small tribute in the shortest leader to the pioneer women. On Monday next the 14th of October is the Anniversary of our first imprisonment. Christabel Pankhurst and my humble self were arrested on the 13th for daring to ask a question on, 'Votes for Women', and sentenced on the 14th to a short term of imprisonnment... we were sleeping on a Plank Bed...," and reporting that she has written the article he had suggested, folds, browned. *** "Kenney became the right-hand woman of the WSPU's top leadership whenever action was required: protests at meetings, forthright challenges to authority at deputations, drumming up support for the WSPU in the west of England, overseas missions, election campaigning." - Oxford DNB.
