ANGLO-SAXON - EXTREMELY RARE HELMETED TYPE (INT90?) - CONTINENTAL SCEATTA C. 695-740 AD. Obv: stylised helmeted head left, the helmet decorated with pellet crest and possibly neck guard attached below; eye and nose (possibly nasal guard) formed of one scroll. Rev: C.O in field within pelleted inner circle, +SV[ ]II legend around. Silver, 0.97 grams, 11.69 mm. Struck slightly off-centre, but about good very fine and extremely rare, an otherwise unrecorded type found in UK. Provenance Found near Oxborough, Norfolk.
