Condition Report: SALEROOM NOTICE: This is a set of thirteen George IV chairs, and one armchair of recent manufacture, not a set of fourteen George IV chairs as printed in the catalogue. There are scratches, marks, knocks and abrasions consistent with age and use. There are losses, observations and restorations including: the horsehair woven fabric not tightly upholstered, some of the close nails have lifted from the seat frame; some brass stringing has is dented, missing, lifting and been re-pinned; the chairs restored including repairs to the crest rails including some patching with veneers and inset wood and stain painting over some repairs; one chair with the back and back leg section loose jointed to the chair seat; lacking some veneers to the seat rails; some or all the brass cylinders to the feet could be of a later date and there are metal bosses to the underside of some of the feet; holes from previous upholstery tacks to the inset recesses of the seat rails; some later blocks to the corners of the seat rails; cracks including to some legs; one armchair of recent manufacture.
