An unusual [?]late 18th-Century orrery, unsigned , the ( [?]later ) 2-inch (5.1cm.) diameter earth ball with no gores held on a turned brass support and with a black-painted moon ball on a wire arm, mounted on the end of a steel arm with scroll support to the main turned brass column, the sunball resting in a candle holder and with a shaped steel pointer extending almost to the earth and fitting over a second shaped and pierced steel pointer hinged to be swung upright from the main arm, the underside of the scroll support terminating in a pointer to read off the ( unpapered ) calendar ring with four small punches for phases of the moon, on a baluster turned fruitwood column and circular cast-iron base -- 14in.
