AN UNUSUAL GERMAN COMBINED MATCHLOCK AND WHEEL-LOCK GUN of exceptional length with two-stage sighted barrel swamped at the muzzle and struck at the breech with a mark, a P within a shield (similar to Neue Støckel 4600), unusual slotted tapering cylindrical iron back-sight, flat lock with engraved details, engraved domed wheel-cover, engraved cock and sliding pan-cover, and engraved and dated bridle to the springs for the safety-catch and serpentine, full stock inlaid with staghorn lines, and on the butt with staghorn panels engraved with foliage, masks, profile heads, and a lion opposite the lock, iron mounts, and wooden ramrod (some damage and restoration to stock and inlay, some pieces of wood and horn missing), dated 1574 83in. barrel [E.111, S.18
