AN UNUSUAL GEORGE II MAHOGANY AND BRASS-MOUNTED LONGCASE CLOCK AND BAROMETER RICHARD PECKOVER, MID-18TH CENTURY The case with pagoda hood surmounted by brass flaming urn finials, with silk-backed fretwork panels to the pediment, cornice and sides (replaced), out-set brass stop-fluted front columns with unusual ovolo-cast capitals, conforming half columns to the rear, the arched front door with moulded frame and set with a glazed barometer dial, with fielded panel to the plinth and raised on squab feet, the 12 in. wide brass dial with eagle and urn spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring signed 'Richard Peckover LONDON', matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring and date aperture, with strike/silent ring to the arch, blued steel hands, the eight day movement with five pillars, anchor escapement and rack strike on bell; with fragmentary depository label printed 'RICHARDSON OF HIGH(CLIFFE)?' AND TYPED 'C. WILLS' pasted over a Maple's Depository label with illegible pencil inscription; brass rod pendulum with calibrated rating nut, two brass weights, crank key, two door keys 105 in. (266.5 cm.) high; 21½ in. (54.5 cm.) wide; 11 in. (28 cm.) deep
