An unusual English soft paste porcelain polychrome teabowl and saucer, possibly Longton Hall c.1755-60, the exterior moulded with leaves and modelled in relief with flowers and buds interspersed by painted insects, the saucer painted with a bird perched on flowering branches with berries, the interior of the teabowl with similar floral sprays, the saucer slightly mis-shapen, 12.4cm., repair to rim of teabowl Estimate £300-500 The body is grey and glassy and displays small moons to the paste when viewed in strong light. The tea bowl has a 11mm x 6mm re-stuck splinter chip to the inside of the rim with staining around the area and a 2mm x 3mm glaze loss to the right of it. On the exterior there is a loss to the tip of one of the turquoise buds. The saucer is mis-shapen. There is a 4mm x 6mm shallow chip to the foot and a similar size over-glazed shallow chip to the foot. There are two tiny losses to a leaf and a turquoise bud.
