AN UNUSUAL CASED PAIR OF 52-BORE FLINTLOCK DUELLING PISTOLS BY HENRY NOCK LONDON, CIRCA 1780 With rebrowned twist sighted barrels signed on the full-length top flat, and with gold line at the breech and gold-lined touch-hole, finely engraved case-hardened tangs, small signed case-hardened detented bevelled locks each held by a screw through the lock-plate and with safety-catch and roller, finely figured walnut full stocks with plain rounded butts (one fore-end chipped), finely engraved blued iron mounts including trigger-guards in the French taste, each with pineapple finial, silver escutcheons, original horn-tipped ramrods, each with worm, and some original finish: in contemporary lined and fitted oak case with accessories including three-way flask covered in red leather, the lid with trade label for circa 1775-1788, the outside with flush-fitting carrying handle replacing an earlier handle of Chippendale form, London proof marks 15 1/8in.
