of rectangular form standing on four short legs, comprising a lengthways-sliding lid, opening to reveal a slideable top drawer and lower compartment, the exterior decorated with applied elements in tortoiseshell, mother-of-pearl, wood marquetry and ivory, underside with old collector's number '6074', together with an Ottoman document bearing the tughra of Abdülhamid II and in a European hand: "Ce beau coffret m'a été offert par un cheikh de Tophané à Constantinople. De. Noailles" 14 by 34.5 by 14.5cm.
