AN OTTOMAN METAL THREAD APPLIED VELVET HANGING TURKEY, 18TH CENTURY The large rectangular panels formed of six panels of green Bursa velvet, each with traces of patterning, well worked with an applied copper-thread complex panel of bold cursive calligraphy spelling an inscription in Ottoman Turkish, in a border of purple velvet with applied arabesque interlace design, areas of rubbing, especially to ground, slight oxidation of copper 86 x 76in. (218.2 x 193cm.)
