Unknown photographer: An original American black-and-white press photograph of Sir Winston Churchill (1874–1965) in the company of his grandson, Nicholas Soames (b. 1948), seen on their way to the baptism of Nicholas' two month old baby brother. In the background Randolph Churchill (1911–1968), Winston Churchill's only son. Back with handwritten (ink) dating and an Associated Press stamp. Photo size 20×26 cm. Frame size 33×43 cm. In 1952 Winston Churchill was at the beginning of his second term as prime minister, a phase that eventually was judged less kindly than the WWII years. The war had been won, the finances and the Empire worn down, disintegration waited ahead and Churchill himself had aged.
This is an original black-and-white press photograph from 1952. Front and back slightly yellowed due to ageing. Furthermore a few surface craklings. Please note that Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers has not physically examined this item, the estimate is solely based on the seller’s photographic material. Therefore, we cannot provide a description of the condition, and it is not possible to request a report on the item’s condition.
