An original American Black and White press photo of the astronaut Walter Schirra testing a newly developed quick-opening hatch. Publication date July 4th 1968. Back with telegram print-out and stamps concerning date and press agency. Photo size 20×25 cm. Frame size 43×33 cm. Walter Schirra was one of the initial seven astronauts chosen by NASA for Project Mercury, the United States' first effort to put human beings into space. Schirra is the only astronaut to havn have flown in both the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs.
Seller informs: This is an original photo from 1968, which shows normal signs of age and handling. Back slightly yellowed.
