AN OLD BABYLONIAN BLACK STONE CYLINDER SEAL, showing a warrior king standing before a suppliant goddess who has both hands raised, behind her a winged demon standing on its hind legs and holding a spear, in the field a diminutive nude goddess facing frontally with her hands clasped in front and an eagle above, a three-line inscription reads, "Serum-ili, son of Nur-kabta, servant of Nabi'um", 18th Century B.C.; and a Sumerian black stone cylinder seal showing three male figures attacking a lion which is raised up on its hind legs, one man holding a spear, another brandishing a curved knife, and a fourth man with a bow overcoming a man who holds a spear and has sunk to the ground on his left knee, a scorpion and a star-spade in the field, late 3rd millennium B.C., 2.8cm. high (2)
