AN NANBOKUCHO PERIOD KAGAMI-SHI TSUBA AND A VERY LARGE NARA TSUBA BY NARA TOSHINAO Muromachi/Edo period (15th/19th century) A cast, circular gilt yamagane tsuba with two concentric broad grooves formed from three rounded ridges, within which are a circle of dots, two parallel ridges broken by an abstract organic form in relief and in the central area scrolls, the reverse similarly decorated, 7.9cm.; and a large, but lightly made irregularly shaped copper tsuba , the face decorated with punch marks and partly black-lacquered and gold rectangles of various sizes, the reverse etched with 'toad-skin' texture, signed Nara Toshinao , 10.4cm (2)
