An interesting German porcelain plate, dated 1856. Of circular form, finely hand painted to the centre with an architectural landscape depicting Schloss Monbrillant painted by William Ramm in 1856. The reverse is inscribed 'Monbrillant. 1856' with 'W. Ramm. in Hannover' beneath. 11.9 in (30.3 cm) diameter. Monbrillant palace was situated in Hanover, Germany and was designed in 1713 by the French architect Louis Remy de la Fosse and was built between the years 1717 - 1720 by Johann Christian Bohme. Once completed, it was used as a royal summer palace. In 1857 the castle was demolished giving way to a new residence which is now currently used as the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University. This porcelain plate dating to 1856 was created in remembrance of the palace.
