An interesting collection of objects from Rotherhithe. Medieval period. Consisting of an Iron Jew's Harps, a pewter candlestick holder, pewter buttons, a 13th century copper alloy buckle, a 15th century copper alloy dress fastener, a bone apple corer, a bone knife handle, a wood comb with closely set teeth which helped to remove fleas, lice and their eggs, a reconstructed bone ice skate, a bone netting needle, a lead Ampula utilised for containing holy water, a lead seal decorated with a key motif, an iron flesh-hook for picking meat from the boiling cauldron, a powder flask , a lead box, a copper alloy casket key, a pewter measuring cup, a pewter flask and a small collection of keys. (26 items) Provenance: This lot came from The Ronald Goode collection at the Pumphouse Educational Museum in Rotherhithe. The Museum housed a fascinating private collection of artifacts discovered on the Thames foreshore in Rotherhithe along with an interesting collection of Peak Freans biscuit factory items which once existed locally in the area. The later collection also included a magnificent six foot iced replica of Queen Elizabeth II's wedding cake with a letter of thanks from Elizabeth II which was on permanent exhibit at The Pumphouse Museum.
