An Indian Gandharan carved stone procession scene 2nd Century AD, in grey schist, the finely carved scene portraying four nude garland bearers, interspersed with two birds with outstretched wings and palms, beneath a tooth carved pediment, 18 7/8 x 4 1/2in. (48 x 11.5cm.), stainless steel hanging bracket attached verso. *Condition: Old damage to top right and lower left corners. Small, old chip top left corner and more recent smaller chip to right hand figure's front foot. Small filled chip to top centre of pediment. Very old losses along lower edge of panel. Steel hanging bracket has been attached verso with modern black glue.
